So we are right in the middle of Lent (February 17th – April 3rd).  Lent is a season of 40 days. The forty days represent the time Jesus spent in the wilderness, enduring the temptation of Satan and preparing to begin his ministry. Lent is best known as a 40-day period dedicated to the preparation for Easter. Here are some things you can do:

  • Help cook or eat a fish meal (e.g. fish sticks)
  • Help someone or give money to the poor
  • Discover the meaning behind the wheat baskets and the red egg
  • Pray
  • Fast for a meal if your health permits
  • Tell God you love Him
  • Make a lamb of God craft
  • Read books about Jesus
  • Buy or make pretzels to eat
  • Write a thank-you note to someone

Matthew 4:1-11  (New Testament) we read… And when Jesus had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward hungry…He said, for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

So, Homeschoolers: sketch an illustration and retell the story called “Jesus is tempted after fasting 40 days and 40 nights
