But first, just a little history lesson below about our freedoms –
- Each section in the Declaration of Independence explains why it had the right to declare independence.
- The Preamble explains why the Continental Congress wrote the Declaration of Independence.
- The Declaration of Natural Rights states that all men are created by their Creator with certain unalienable rights.
- These unalienable rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
- The Declaration of Independence includes a list of grievances against the British government.
- It claims the colonies were free and independent states.
- The signers of the Declaration of Independence represented the American people.
- They voted to declare the colonies independent from Great Britain on July 4, 1776.
- Most of the signers signed the document on August 2, 1776.
