Happy Birthday America! Everyone likes a birthday party. Today is America’s birthday party. Let’s celebrate! Here are a few words from Charles Kuralt on the Declaration of Independence.

  • This is the day we celebrate our independence from Great Britain
  • This is the day we celebrate our uniting together to become a strong nation
  • This is the day we celebrate our love of freedom

  • This is the day we celebrate those early statesmen who gave birth to the idea that we, as American citizens, have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness
  • This is the day when we celebrate all thirteen colonies legally stating our country had the right to its own nationhood
  • This is the day we celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence
  • This is the day we put up the United States flag and recite the Pledge of Allegiance
