Edmund Burke (12January1729 – 9July1797) was an Irish philosopher and statesman. He served as a member of the British Parliament in the House of Commons of Great Britain with the Whig Party. He was sympathetic to the grievances of the American colonies, and against the French revolution, and persecution of the Catholic Church.
