Happy Sabbath Day!

Today is the day that God has set for us to remember our covenants with him. It is a day when we drink from the spiritual water of God and do not thirst. It is a day set aside when we can sing songs to worship Him. It is a day set aside when we can take the sacrament or communion or Lord’s supper. It is a day when we can read the scriptures and search for answers to our prayers. It is a day when we can pray to God without interruption. It is a day of resting from our worldly cares and worries. It is a day when we can serve or help other people. While we can do much of this on other days, the Sabbath Day, is a day set aside when we rededicate our lives to God. Then we will find peace to our souls!

Exodus 20:8-11 (Old Testament)

8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

10 But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates:

11 For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

So, Homeschoolers: sketch an illustration and describe what the ’Sabbath Day’ means to you.
