Word of the Day – Cats

Do you know the definition for the new Word of the Day which is “Cats?”

Pronounced:  [kats]

Everyone loves cats! Cats like to meow. Don’t you just love to hear a car purr? Don’t you just love to pet your cat?  A cat is a small domesticated carnivorous mammal with soft fur and a short snout with claws. It is widely kept as a pet or for catching mice.

Other fun facts about Cats:

  • Cats can sleep 13-14 hours a day
  • Cats have flexible bodies
  • Cats like to hunt for mice and rats
  • Young cats are called kittens
  • The average male weights about 20 lbs.
  • The hearing of the average cat is at least five times keener than that of a human adult
  • Most cats give birth to a litter of between one and nine kittens
