A union or association formed for mutual benefit, especially between countries or organizations

  • For example, during World War II the main Axis alliance consisted of Germany, Japan, and Italy
  • An example of a strategic alliance between companies is Starbucks and Barnes & Noble where you can go into a Noble bookstore and buy a light snack and drink from the Starbucks restaurant
