Happy Father’s Day to my own father, my husband, sons, the father in your family, and the fathers of our country!
Just who are the fathers of our country, you might ask. They include:
- George Washington (1st United States President)
- John Adams
- Thomas Jefferson
- James Madison
- John Jay
- Alexander Hamilton
- Benjamin Franklin
I might add that this would be a timely assignment for your homeschooler. Instruct your child to list each of the founding fathers of his country and write a paragraph on each one. Then tell your child to create a word search using their names and contributions. Solve the word search. This becomes an easy, introductory history assignment with the added bonus of English skills practice. Finally, tell your child to draw and color a picture of his favorite founding father. Display the picture. Play a game of Scrabble using words related to Father’s Day.
