Taxes, taxes, taxes. Every year as American citizens we are required to file a tax form with the federal government. One option is to file your taxes online. We find out whether we get a refund or pay additional money to the government.
Homeschoolers, I found a great site for you to teach your child about taxes. It is called kids.gov. It is broken down into two categories: grades K-5 and grades 6-8. Listed below are the educational objectives your child will learn by using this site:
- Explain why we pay taxes
- List some goods and services that are paid with taxes
- List different types of taxes and describe them
- Explain the basic process of collecting taxes
- State which agency monitors taxation and what could happen if taxes aren’t paid
